The aim of this study was to investigate the strategies for managing adolescents’ media life activities to prevent from their social de-identification. The research method was qualitative content analysis. The research population included all the students of educational sciences studying at Birjand University in the academic year 2023-2024. Using purposive sampling and until theoretical saturation of data, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 of these students (6 males and 9 females), and the resulted data were analyzed using thematic analysis. For data reliability, inter-rater reliability was used, and for the validity of the findings, the experts’ review was applied. The data analysis findings suggested 5 overarching themes (how to use media, the amount of media usage, media usage time, media usage environment, and the media content used) and 31 organizing themes. Regarding “how” to use, it is necessary that adolescents’ media life activities change from consumption to creative production. It is, also, necessary to teach adolescents the difference between real and fake identities in the cyberspace and promote their critical thinking towards users’ virtual identities in the media. For the amount of use, it is necessary to use smart time control software and limit adolescents’ television watching hours and video and computer games. A specific time should be set for using cyberspace and television programs, as well, and media tools should be used in the most public place in the house. In addition, it is better to provide content based on the adolescents’ real identities that is appropriate for their culture and religion.
