Peace is the first victim of the wars. To create peace, media and peace journalism are essential. Peace journalism, which is a type of non-biased journalism that always takes the side of peace, has been ignored at every single time and in every form of conflict. The study population of this article was selected from the BBC Persian’s website, which had previously been content analyzed during the Gaza war, and its level and extent of adherence to the values of peace journalism was assessed. However, this judgment was not complete, because a superficial and content-based study of all the articles in that media during the war did not yield a peaceful interpretation. Therefore, the underlying layers of the text were dissected using Van Dijk’s discourse analysis method. Discourse analysis of those articles shows that content analysis is not enough to judge a media outlet based on the values of peace journalism, and media discourse must be policy-based according to the values of peace journalism so that content is produced and published in the same vein. In fact, benefiting from peace journalism as a substitute and peace-supporting style in the media is not achieved only by producing peace content, but the realization of such a desire also depends on “media discourse” and “reforming the structure of text production.” This study showed that although the aforementioned media outlet, to some extent, adhered to some values of peace journalism, it did not have a peace journalism discourse and did not advocate peace. The fact that a media outlet does not advocate peace during wartime indicates ignoring or downplaying the importance of “peace.”
